Monday, November 3, 2008
Welcome to this latest issue of the Wear-Dated e-Newsletter.
We hope you had a fun Halloween with ghosts, goblins and witches galore. The start of November brings to mind upcoming Holidays and family get-togethers that take place in engaging indoor spaces. As you make plans, we have some ideas for you to consider...
As usual, our ideas have to do with carpet style suggestions, carpet care, buying tips and a few inspiring web leads.
Thank you for reading. We wish you endless Beauty, Comfort and Durability!
DELIGHTFUL DESIGN...
Design inspiration for the home is often found in unlikely places – a quirky knick-knack, a favorite pillow, a family heirloom. But here at Wear-Dated, we feel that design inspiration starts at ground level. The color and texture of wall-to-wall carpet can pull a single room together or enhance your entire home. Below, we describe two carpet styles made with Wear-Dated carpet fiber; one of them just might inspire you. For hundreds of other carpet styles, visit www.weardated.com.
Carlisle Bay – Soft, textured and happily durable, this level loop has a pinpoint pattern and plenty of style. It comes in 40 different colors, including solid and berber shades. You might find inspiration in the golden hues of Natural Grain or the deep, chocolate brown of Monk’s Cloak.
Eloquence Classic – Take a new approach to traditional textured carpet with the heavy, nubby twists of Eloquence Classic. With 59 colors to choose from, including Black Sable and Grass Roots, you’re bound to discover one that matches your taste and style.
STAINS OF THE SEASON
The wind is brusque and the leaves are crisp. Suddenly, an extra sweater sounds like an excellent idea. When the weather turns cold, mugs of piping hot coffee help to heat the hands and the soul, but sometimes, spills happen and your cup of warm comfort winds up on your carpet. Read on to learn how to remove a coffee stain.
Blot the stain with a white paper towel to remove as much of it as possible. Then, neutralize it with a white vinegar solution. Saturate the spot using a spray bottle and blot to remove excess moisture. After neutralizing, apply a small amount of a detergent solution to the spot (1/4 teaspoon detergent per 1 qt. of water). Blot with a white paper towel to work the detergent into the affected area. If the spot is being removed, continue applying detergent and blotting until spot is completely removed. Using a spray bottle, rinse with tap water, and then blot to remove excess moisture. Next, spray lightly with water, but instead of blotting, apply a pad of paper towels, weigh them down with a brick and allow to dry.

WEAR-DATED CARPET BUYING TIP
If you happen to be in the market for carpet this month, check out Fabulous Floors magazine’s fall 2008 issue. In it, Sonna Calandrino, editor in chief, discusses Solutia’s 2008 color forecast, derived from the paintings of John James Audubon. As you discover the colors and images that inspired us this year, you may find inspiration for the carpet and design in your own home.
