Wear-Dated® Presents Seminar for Washington State FCA
Focuses on the retail shopping experience
KENNESAW, Ga.—Wear-Dated® carpet’s director of In-Store Innovation, Christine Whittemore, will present “How to Improve Your Retail Shopping Experience” at the Washington State Floor Covering Association’s November dinner meetings. The two meetings will take place on Nov. 11 in Seattle, Wash., and on Nov. 12 in Spokane, Wash., at 6 p.m.
Based on a presentation titled “What Your Register Tape Doesn’t Tell You,” introduced at Surfaces ‘08 in Las Vegas, this hour-long presentation addresses the criticality of creating an engaging and positive retail experience for the carpet consumer, something Wear-Dated recognizes and actively promotes. When retailers pay attention to their store dynamics, they’re better able to meet the needs of their customers, generate repeat business and increase profits. However, when retailers focus solely on finances, they miss important clues that tell them whether their stores successfully bring consumers and products together.
“Consumers face innumerable choices for their disposable dollars and won’t tolerate suboptimal shopping experiences,” says Whittemore. “Retailers who pay attention to how consumers interact with their stores create memorable experiences that consumers gravitate toward and reward with their loyalty.”
Debbie Tott, executive director, W.S.F.C.A., added, “Our members have extremely busy schedules; Ms. Whittemore’s presentation will be worth their time. I’ve seen the presentation and know that they will obtain valuable information for their businesses. It is sure to guide our members in the direction their stores should take in order to attract and retain customers when they come into their showrooms.”
Wear-Dated has developed several presentations about marketing to women consumers and the retail shopping experience, including “Marketing to Women – It’s a Business Thing!” and “Trading Up – Carpet, Truly a New Luxury Good!” which are CEU accredited. Retailers around the country have benefited from the information. The most recent presentation in this series - “What Your Register Tape Doesn’t Tell You” - looks at what makes today’s consumer unique, discusses the tools of a retail anthropologist, and applies those tools to the flooring retail environment.
For reservations for either event, contact Debbie Tott at (425) 885-0012 or wsfca@comcast.net. Networking at 6 p.m. and a dinner at 7 p.m. precede the presentation.
