Wear-Dated® Takes Surfaces 2008 By The Foot
Retailers react positively to products, programs and blog

KENNESAW, Ga.--Feb. 19, 2008--From Jan. 30 through Feb.1, 2008, the floor covering industry assembled in Las Vegas for Surfaces 2008 to learn about new products, gather information, and prepare for the upcoming year in flooring.

Wear-Dated®’s products, programs and blog focused on its By The Foot marketing campaign. “Surfaces 2008 reaffirmed our commitment to our By The Foot award-winning marketing campaign,” said Marianne Cone, director of marketing. “And retailers continue to support it. They report favorable consumer reactions to the quirkiness and humor of the message and renewed interest in the sensual and fashionable qualities that carpet represents.”

New carpet product introductions – like Fabrica’s Silk Weve, Gulistan’s Del Ray, and WundaWeve’s Shining Allure – garnered rave reviews for their stylishness and textural appeal. Many of the new introductions showcased the versatility of Wear-Dated Natural Nylon™, introduced at Surfaces 2007. Wear-Dated Natural Nylon combines the superior performance characteristics of Solutia type 6,6 nylon with a proprietary insert technology that binds individual fibers together. The result is a patented fiber structure with sharp pinpoint tip definition and a natural ‘wool-like-look’ in constructions previously limited to BCF fiber, all with superior appearance retention. Examples of those products include Karastan’s Eloquence Classic and McClaren Park.

“We received great reactions at Surfaces. Our retailers are excited about our new Wear-Dated carpet fiber introductions. They saw product that looked fresh and fashionable, which is what the market is seeking,” said David Goldschmidt, director, retail sales.

Wear-Dated’s new weblog, The Carpetology Blog, impressed dealers and retailers with its ability to not only romance the carpet product category, but also offer consumers a fun destination to become more knowledgeable about carpet as a design element, how best to care for it and what to look for when purchasing carpet. It, too, reflects the look and feel of the By The Foot marketing campaign.

“What better way to reinforce the Wear-Dated message of beauty, comfort and durability than through all of our communication tools, from The Carpetology Blog, to our coop and incentive programs, all the way to our most recent product introductions,” said Cone.
