Wear-Dated® New Products Extend Across Mills with Many New Styles

KENNESAW, Ga.--Feb. 6, 2007--The Wear-Dated® booth at Surfaces this year will be buzzing with excitement for many reasons. In addition to a wide array of new products, Wear-Dated will be launching a new product extension for the first time since 2003.

Wear-Dated Natural Nylon combines the superior performance characteristics of Solutia type 6,6 nylon with a proprietary insert technology that acts as a glue to bind individual fibers together. The result is a patented fiber structure with sharp pinpoint definition in solids and distinct patterns, a natural “wool-like-look” in constructions previously limited to BCF fiber, with superior appearance retention.

Gulistan will offer the first three new Natural Nylon products, including two cut-and-loop styles—Craftwork, a geometric basket-weave pattern and Weymouth, a floral rose pattern. Ashmore is a heavy-weight texture, complimentary to the two patterned cut-and-loops. Each of these new offerings shares a common color palette of thirty outstanding colors, with design and construction that take full advantage of the features of Natural Nylon.

Fabrica’s Nibbana, Shandur and Abrash styles offer unique texture and shading, for a sophisticated look. Shandur has a slight shading, striated effect, while Nibbana has a more random shearing for additional dimension and softness. Abrash has even more of a rough texture to create the appearance of beautiful, hand-crafted irregularity, and features 25 unique colorations, including eight new deeper value additions.

"The striations along with the complex neutral colorways are on the leading edge of what we're seeing in color and design trends for next year and beyond," said Marianne Cone, director of marketing for Solutia. "Fabrica uses sophisticated tufting, dyeing and finishing technology to create some of the most beautiful products we've seen in the market."

The Mohawk Innovations Display showcases the new Innovations Collection, a result of the alliance between Mohawk, Wear-Dated and Scotchgard. The already popular collection features 19 new products in the Horizon by Mohawk line, including 12 new Frieze and Cable/Shags with 100% Wear-Dated Durasoft BCF nylon. Since the introduction of the Innovations Display last summer, over 2500 racks have been placed in retail stores.

Royalty will introduce three new products this year, New Haven, Fanfare and Festival, which are constructed with durability and style, designed for areas of the home currently using hard surface. The 42 oz New Haven Patterned Loop creates a bold, unique look for the home using a natural sisal pattern with an explosion of color to rival any floor covering. Fanfare is a 46 oz. cut and loop carpet, which uses a subtle linear pattern with accents of color to create a natural, woven look. Festival, a 46 oz. Patterned cut and loop is a bolder coordinate to Fanfare. All of these styles are made with Wear-Dated branded fiber.

CW Industries’ Easy Living Collection will offer six new styles with Cut/Loop construction. Forever, Grid Lock, Saratoga and Still Life are 35 ounces, Stonehenge is 39 ounces and The Dunes is 36 ounces. They will share a similar color line, all made with Wear-Dated DuraSoft Fiber.

In addition to the Easy Living Collection, CW Industries will also showcase the high fashion Tivoli and Renata styles. Tivoli features a classic old-world look with a silk-like accent stripe that fits in with today's trend toward stripes. A textured product with loop accents, it is available in 12 of the most popular stocking colors. Renata is a soft-patterned loop that recalls the look of a cozy, comfortable cable sweater. Both are produced with 100 percent premium nylon 6,6 Wear-Dated DuraSoft carpet fiber.

"The growth in interest in these two products since they were introduced has been amazing,” said Wear-Dated’s Marianne Cone, director, marketing, carpet fibers. “C.W. Industries has found a niche with these highly styled, beautifully colored products with accent loop patterns."

CustomWeave brings two new styles to Surfaces this year—Rosewood and Hardanger. Hardanger is an adaptation of a simple crocheted grass cloth pattern, easy on the eyes, and a perfect floorcovering to blend nicely with today's patterned furniture fabrics. It is available in 20 colors. Rosewood is created to mirror the warm friendly braided rugs, with an all over loop style that gives a warm, comfortable feeling underfoot.

Prince Street House & Home introduces three new “super sisal” loop grades at Surfaces. Carnegie, Biltmore, and Rockefeller all feature the new Wear-Dated Natural Nylon carpet fiber.
