Solutia Offers 2007 "What Is Blue" Color Forecast to Wear-Dated® Retailers
KENNESAW, Ga.--November 29, 2006–For the first time ever, Solutia Inc. is making its annual color forecast available to flooring retailers. The forecasts are designed to present colors anticipated to be popular in the coming years, in an interesting and informative format. This year’s presentation places colors from past Solutia forecasts into a historical context, examining how the colors have found their way into the world of design. “More and more retailers see the need to be up to date on color and design trends in order to be relevant to the consumer,” said Marianne Cone, director of marketing, carpet fibers, Solutia Inc. “This forecast helps them do just that.”
The 2007 forecast, “What is Blue?” offers an inside look at the inspiration behind color forecasting. It also offers a unique perspective on the transition of particular color families over the past 15 years, and a look forward to the colors that will be found in design in two to three years. “This forecast promises to be one of the best ever!” said Cone. “We have a solid 15-year record of forecasting colors for the design community, and now we are sharing these insights with the retail community as well.”
The colors included in the 2007 forecast are presented through the experience of music, fashion and flavor. “As we developed the 2007 color forecast, we tried to think beyond the color itself, to color experience”, says Ann Hurley, manager of product design, carpet fibers, Solutia Inc. “It was great fun to think of the experience certain colors called to mind!” A renowned color expert, Hurley has helped guide Solutia’s color forecasts since she joined the company four years ago.
